This afternoon, I went to an event in my honour. I spent several weeks developing a website for the Kiwanis Club of Duncan through Weebly. The members of Kiwanis were so pleased with my work that they presented me with a certificate of appreciation in honour of it.
Since I normally work on the nights when Kiwanis meets, several members of the club set aside some time today to come and meet me and be there on a day when I was available. That was very accommodating of them. I got my photograph taken as I received the framed certificate from the club president, along with a letter of thanks signed by the members. Everyone praised me, shook my hand and thanked me. It really made me feel good about myself.
While we were there, we talked for a bit and played some pool and shuffleboard (a game I had never learned how to play until today). I won a game of pool in a very interesting way: by banking the eight ball off a wall from one end of the table to the corner pocket at the other end. (We called shots in the game, which made the win even more impressive.) Everyone thought that was really cool. It was probably the best pool shot I’ve ever made. Too bad we didn't get it on camera.
All in all, I had a wonderful time. How nice it is to be appreciated when you do something for others.
